I feel bad for city folks. Folks who can’t spend time on a rainy day pondering what must have happened during the making of the weird eggs that come from their chickens.
Did it get stuck in the machine, like a package at the post office?
It’s incredible, this edible egg. I’m glad I get to experience the production of it even when there’s a problem with quality control.

We get some funky shaped ones here, too. Never a huge crease like that, though. I, too, wonder what in the world goes on in their "factory". : )
Haaa...! It's that time of the year, isn't it? Firing up all the systems and needing to work out all the kinks. I've got a lot of this going on, too. Makes for entertaining days. :-)
That's a funky one for sure. We sometimes get very tiny eggs or very large eggs but never a big crease like that. I agree, must've been stuck.
Looks like a rooster got all excited while it was forming. At least that's my hair-brained interpretation.
I have one hen that lays eggs with wrinkles all the time but have never gotten any with a crease. Wierd! Aren't you glad they aren't all perfect though?

Ok, this is strange to admit, but I've seen that before - it's from the shell being too soft when laid. We had chickens while I was growing up on our farm and saw ones like that. My dad would tell you that you should add some ground up shell back into their diet to help the shells harden.
It looks like your hen changed her mind part-way through the process!
