Wanna Shear Some Sheep?

I need a sucker volunteer to come over Friday and assist me as spotter while I shear the sheep. The spotter’s duties would be to distract the others while I select my victim client. The spotter will also stand opposite the shearing stand from me to insure the victim client doesn’t leap to their death. The spotter should also be prepared to call 911 in case the sheep remember their haircuts from last year.

In return for your assistance you will receive a bologna sandwich gourmet lunch and a dozen farm-fresh eggs.

Funny post. I'm laughing so hard at you. Hope your day is a good one.

I wish I lived near you :-)

If you were closer, I'd be just crazy enough to do it. Of course, I would expect you here for shearing next year. (Which would make you wish I hadn't. You'd gain a new appreciation for your shearing day!)

I would come help if I were back home in Indiana. Have sheared a sheep or too myself and it was NOT pretty so I would love to stand and be a spotter!!! Learned right away to leave that job to the pros!

Oh, we would have so much fun -- but I'd probably steal a fleece or sheep in the process!

Ha! Thanks for the laughs but I think if it ever dries out that the 40 some ewes (that are still in full fleece) and 11 rams that I have left to go are on my list to shear!

Did get a couple done when it was dry on Sat.

I need to do my own and am so scared...do you hand shear or do you use electric??? If electric, what type is it...I'm in desperate need of some suggestions!

I'm very serious Kim. Come on over and bring your muck boots! Oh and your camera as I'm sure it's going to be quality entertainment.

Last year I used hand shears, this year I'm going to add the electric. I'll still use the hand shears around their more delicate parts.

Forgot to say they are the Premier shears. Can't remember which model off the top of my head.

Gosh - would SO love to come over! If only I lived closer! I've had pretty good results with my hand shearing...would love to know if it's only my sheep being kind, or if I can actually do it to someone else's sheep!

You know... Jayme over at The Coop Keeper blog loves learning new things. I am volunteering Jayme since she lives much closer to you than I do... hee hee

Oh, dear, I'm sorry I'm too far away! And I do like balogna sandwiches, as long as you have plenty of spicy mustard.

I have to work Friday, but if you throw in gas money and your brother's phone number I can be there Monday morning. ;)

Watching you would be fun, but helping...not so much.
