Happy Mother's Day

The way I walk, I see my mother walking
My feet secure, and firm upon the ground
The way I talk, I hear my daughter talking
And hear my mother's echo in the sound
The way she thought, I find myself now thinking
The generations linking, In a firm continuum of mind
The bridge of immortality I'm walking, The voice before me echoing behind

Hi Nancy,

Yes, that's eight generations of mothers and daughters. (Sarah is a little scary isn't she?) LOL

I'll bet if we had as hard a life as Sarah, we'd probably look pretty scary too! ha-ha.

What a blessing to have photos of so many generations of their family. I wonder how many people could say thar?

(How many people have told you how much you look like Reba McIntire?)

Wow, eight generations. I only have photos back as far as some of my great grandparents. I'd give my eyeteeth for photos further back.

One of my great grandmothers had ten kids. She was only about five years older than her husband, but she looks about 20-30 years older in the photos, while he looks like he doesn't have a care in the world.

Wow, what a treasure you have with those pictures. I can't help but wonder what their lives were like.

I think Anita kinda looks like Anne Frank.

Oh my. How lovely. I'm so glad I found your blog on this day. Such a beautiful tribute. Powerful. You are so fortunate to have the photos you do and the history. Happy Mother's Day! XO

The lack of expression or serious expression in so many of the very old pictures was partly due to the long exposure time required - something like several minutes - so holding still required serious concentration - otherwise you got a blurry picture. You never know - Sarah may have been the family practical joker in that generation!

You are very fortunate to have so many family pictures - hope you have a collage of copies displayed somewhere.
