It's a woodpecker. They go after bee larve (if I remember correctly). Our eves got attacked by one last year. Sounds like someone is lightly knocking on the door. I've read that you can deter them with sparkly things that move, like foil or garland, etc. Good luck with getting rid of it.
It's not carpenter bees.
But something is definitely chowing down on the Banty Shanty.
