He Shall be Named Sparky

And he shall live on the farm forever.

I don't care what Old Jack says.

I'm keeping him.

Sparky's no dummy. He's already got the ladies wrapped around his -- uh, err, well let's just say the ladies like him. So much so that Minnie was willing to stash him away behind her in the nest box to keep Old Jack away.

The littles have been loose in the coop for several days now but have yet to take a step outside. I'm starting to think it's because Sparky's afraid to get his feathers dirty.

He is a very handsome boy! I have one that is about 8 weeks old and looks just like him. Do you happen to know what breed he is? Winona

Winona, I believe he is a White D'Uccle Bantam.

You can find out more about them at the Belgian D'Uccle club.

He is a handsome fellow, isn't he? Love those fluffy feet!

Oh, forgot to ask - do they get mean? Because I can't do any more mean roosters. I don't let anyone torment or tease them and darned if they don't get aggressive anyway, and then they're soup and it makes me sad. :(

If he isn't the most beautiful little roo I ever did see! Wow! Gorgeous!

Isn't it great fun watching them grow up some?

Terri,

So far I've lucked out and none of my bantam roosters have turned aggressive. This little guy is especially docile.

That is the most beautiful little guy. I didn't know chickens could be so pretty. Well, Bob was very handsome but this little guy is awesome. Glad you are keeping him.

BTW, all my chicks have arrived! They are still at a friends house while we finish the coop. I hope to have them home in a week.

Sparky is handsome and the blog is lovely. This is perfect and makes you feel like you you could put your feet up and stay awhile.
