It is almost always the first question I’m asked when I say I have llamas and alpacas. Closely followed by, “What do you do with them?” Normally, I explain that they really only spit at each other, but from now on I’m just going to say, “Yes. Yes, they do.”
And I just washed my barn coat. *sigh*
On a funny note, the other day, The Crazy Sheep Lady was giving me a hard time about my profile photo on Ravelry; she thought it made me look like I worked in a bank. Guess what will be my profile now? Talk about keepin’ it real.

Looks like the llama missed your face so you did not have an awkward open mouth incident. Or else you would have been spitting yourself. Ha
My second question is not "What do you do with them?" It is "Does their spit smell as bad as I've heard it does?" (I was told once that it was a lot like skunk)
Has Thelma's new/old friend come home yet?
Maybe they didn't like the smell of the freshly washed barn coat.

Ok, I have horses, dogs, donkeys and chickens. But I have to say, ewwwwww to the spit.
Not yet, Jean. It may be awhile before transportation can be arranged.
Yes, it really does smell bad. Not quite as bad as skunk but pretty close.
THAT IS SO DISGUSTING!!!!!
;-)
gross. did you say something wrong? maybe you forgot to give a compliment or something such like that? no? maybe you looked hungry? ha. ha!! (:
Nice.....not.
I thought the spitting llama was the "on a funny note". And I, for one, liked your picture.
Yep, they do.
you didn't say who did the spitting .... don't think Thelma would do that since you have promised her a new friend.
Frankie did it. He's a kicker and a spitter.
That's sick!
Have you seen the commercial for the TV show, I think it's called, Trucking Wars, with the lady and a camel? The camel spits on her and she starts to gag.....real funny! This post reminded me of her. ;D
GROSS!
But they are beautiful animals.
Oh. My. Goodness. I think you've moved from "banking" to Dirty Jobs!
What exactly does llama spit smell like? I know it "stinks" really bad from friends, but I have a hard time picturing the smell (I hav a hard time believing it's near the distinct, one-of-a-kind musky skunk smell)
It is a cross between skunk and vomit. Seriously. That bad.
