Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Come gather round. We have an announcement!
Don't push. Don't crowd. Leave some room for you to
BEHOLD
something more priceless than diamonds. More precious than gold.
It's...
It's...
the world's most expensive to produce egg...
Isn't it marvelous? Is it not the most spectacular thing you've ever seen?
Yes, I thought so, too.
It seems if you build it, they will come...the eggs that is. If you build nifty nest boxes out of dish pans and some scrap lumber the hens will suddenly up and decide they must use the new facility immediately.
Little Beth, our "special" chicken laid her very first egg, yesterday. Bob stood by her side the entire time. We were so proud of both of them, we let them celebrate with they're favorite treats of apples, weeds and breadcrumbs.
Now if we can just get 12,000 more eggs from them it will pay for the coop. *cough, sputter*

So glad you'll are back. Lovely egg, who gets to eat it?
Patsy
Congratulations! I know you must be proud!
BTW, your chickens are gorgeous! I'm serious.....I don't know what kind they are, but they are really good looking chickens. (Can you say that about chickens and people not think your weird?) Maybe yours are just photogenic, yeah, maybe thats it.........or maybe I am just weird.
You have every right to be as proud (as if you laid it)...don't know if you will reach the 12,000 mark - but enjoy those you do get.
I asked my husband if I could have some chickens like yours. He picked up the phone to call the mental hospital. :) I love your chickens and wish you many more eggs! blessings, marlene
Yea! Eggs! I think you should take pictures of it being consumed so we can see the golden yolk that shames our supermarket eggs.
I've missed something. What's "special" about this hen? Does she have some sort of issue?
I also don't know what kind of chickens they are, but I'm loving these black and white ones with the bright red combs. So classic. Makes me wish I could have some - just to look at. The eggs would be extra!
Congratulations! Such a lovely egg.
I'm not so sure about those 12,000 more, though...
Ahhh, how sweet Bob is to hang in there with Beth. Only 12,000 more huh? Hmmmm, better have some serious talks with those chickens. That's a lot of eggs. But in the meantime look at the entertainment they are providing you with, not to mention those of us hooked on your blog.
Really? This is the first? I was sure you were having an omelot for every meal by now. I was even saving an egg carton to fill. Awe well, a few more trips to the supermarket before I start funding your lifestyle. :-D
