A Garden Without Weeds

Finished another quilt top. This one's sole purpose was for me to throw something simple together. Something I could use to practice free motion machine quilting. I think the dark colors and busy patterns should hide all my goof ups nicely. The pattern is called Pathways by Betsy Mennesson. It eludes to brick paths and rows of flowers. This is the extent of gardening I want to do by the time August rolls around.

I feel the need to mention that my design wall is a little wonky. My seams are wavy, but not that wavy.

Good luck with the free motion quilting. I have been practicing some myself. I enjoy it but still feel I have a long way to go.
I really enjoyed your blog. I'll be back.

Quite an array of colors...I like a garden with no weeds...but that certainly is not like any of the gardens around our place.

Take care..enjoy the week!

Just what I need. A flower garden that doesn't need weeding. Great quilt

When God gave out patience I must have been in the bathroom because I have zilch. I tried free motion machine quilting, once, and had tiny stitches and huge stitches! I think I might could get the pattern in my head but the speed of my hand movements was so erratic and I'm not sure I could correct it. They say you have to practice several hours to learn it - I'll be interested to see how you do. Please keep us posted. Blessings, marlene

I have no earthly idea what free-motion quilting is, but it turned out pretty - not wonky at all. Which of course is going to be my word of the day tomorrow. Or rather later today.

I love a scrappy quilt and I like the way it all blends. Good pattern to use your scraps.
I can't do free motion quilting. Tried once on a wall hanging and quit totally frustrated. Some women just seem to have a knack for it. Good luck with yours!

I love free motion quilting but I am not very good at it. I have short stitches, longer stitches, loops of thread underneath. Just doesn't work for me. Maybe I should practice also.

Let us know how it turns out for you. I like the colors in that quilt also, reminds me of fall.
