Broody Bantams

It is that time of year again. Time for me  to steal the eggs the bantams have been stashing behind my back. We recently had a staff meeting and discussed the fact that we were closing that assembly line down for this season but they keep taking it upon themselves to continue production.

I don’t want any chicks this year so every day, a couple times a day, I’m kicking them off their nests. I now understand how the term “pock” mark came to be. It stands for Pissed Off Chicken.

They are down right vicious.

That is so funny....I have one that is broody right now too and I have to go in every evening when I collect eggs with LONG leather gloves to move her so I can get the eggs...they are nasty when they are broody, aren't they!

Chicks are cute. You are trying to come between hen and cute. Good luck!

Those little banties can be ferocious! Cute, though! And a chick! Well...that'd be darn cute.

My silkies get very broody, I give them a fake egg to sit on and it makes them happy, I throw some scratch every morning and everyone comes running for treats, then use that time to quickly collect any real eggs in the nests. LOL at pack marks, they can be pissy little things though.

She looks like a momma, at least! My grandmother's hens are starting to go broody, too.

I have a young hen who isn't broody, but screams at me every time I step into the coop, if she's sitting in a nesting box. Otherwise she follows me around like a pet. They are so moody, aren't they?
