I had a few gourd seeds. They were old. I never really thought they would grow. Not only have they grown, they’ve taken over the entire garden and are consuming Old One-Eyed Jack’s assisted living facility.
Jack doesn’t seem to mind though. It gives them some much needed shade and he thinks it makes the place feel like a fantasy room at a swanky hotel.
In fact, when we were discussing it, he suggested the only thing missing were a few mirrors on the ceiling inside the coop and wanted to know if I could get some for him. I explained that interior decorating is generally left up to the ladies and we had better get their opinion on the matter before taking on any such projects.
When asked, Hester Prynne replied, “Are you nuts? He’s already been running around, puffing out his chest and shouting ‘Me Tarzan.’ If you put mirrors in there we’re out of here.”
“Sorry Jack, they’re not interested in the mirrors” I said.
“Well, then how do they feel about a hot tub?”
For crying out loud, throw some cold water on him!!!
NO! Don't throw water on Jack! He just wants to give his ladies a little luxury. I LIKE that in a man-er-rooster? You know what I mean!
Jack is looking great. What a handsome fellow.
Yeah, very handsome. And the photos, against the backdrop of the vines look like a work of art
Our gourds are going CRAZY too, they are everywhere. And we never planted any this year, they have come up from last year. Jack is very good looking!
The Chicken Keepers
We need to figure out how to grow something across the top of our coop netting, what a great idea.
The only hot tubs our chickens get in are on the stove... I recommend Jack rethink that one.
that coop is beautifully looked after! and rather scenic!
The gourd plants certainly made for some great shade for Jack and the girls. Lucky little critters.
you say hot tub, i picture a stew pot! careful what you wish for, jack!
i love your blog, christine. from one chicken farming hoosier to another. :)
It sounds like Jack is never happy - just like some humans I know!
